CREATIVE CONCERT GROUP is a project led by cellist Jacques-Pierre Malan and pianist/arranger Sahun Hong, to present new classical music programs that expand the possibilities of the chamber music repertoire.
Inspired by the support of fellow musicians and audiences alike, for the unique potential of bringing concerto repertoire to intimate venues, this new collaboration marks a new era of imaginative and visionary programming for chamber music. With each program there is a surprise - a unique musical idea that has never, ever, been done before.
In a pilot concert for The Boldness of Beethoven, premiered in 2016, Sahun Hong's original arrangement of Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 3 received high praise from renowned musicians such as violinist Herbert Greenberg, former concertmaster of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra:
"First-class performance... and a fresh approach to music that is second to none. The arrangements by Sahun Hong are witty, intelligent, and creative, and there is tremendous potential for a group of this flexibility, to perform in all types of venues."
Herbert Greenberg, violinist
Concerts for the upcoming season will include Dvorak Reimagined, which features Dvorak’s monumental cello concerto in a never-before-heard arrangement for string quartet and solo cello, as well as Dvorak's Piano Quintet No. 2 in A major.
